South Dakota has secured over $72 million that will be awarded to expand high-speed internet access across the state.
This new funding comes thanks to the National Telecommunications and Information Administration’s approval of South Dakota’s final proposal for the Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment– or BEAD– program. The approval marks a major milestone in a four-year planning and implementation process aimed at connecting the state’s remaining unserved and underserved locations.
These dollars were included in the Fiscal Year 2027 Budget proposal presented by Governor Larry Rhoden Dec. 2, 2025.
