A $2 million Powerball prize sold in Mobridge in August (Aug. 23, 2025) has been claimed….but lottery officials cannot reveal who had the winning ticket.
A news release from the South Dakota Lottery says, “The recent $2 million Powerball winner has requested to remain anonymous. We ask that you please respect the winner’s privacy and take this request into consideration.”
The $2 million ticket was sold in August (Aug. 23, 2025) at Lucky’s Gas N More in Mobridge. The ticket matched five of five winning numbers, but didn’t match the Powerball. The player doubled their second prize by purchasing the Power Play add on, which multiplies all non-jackpot winning amounts. Because the ticket was claimed, Lucky’s Gas N More received a $25,000 bonus.
All lotto prizes must be claimed within 180 days after the date of the drawing in which the prize was won. If prizes are not claimed, they are distributed to the South Dakota Lottery’s Unclaimed Prize Fund, which helps fund prizes for future games.
The state’s General Fund, which supports K-12 schools, state universities and technical institutes, receives 70% of net revenue from lotto games such as Powerball. The state’s Capital Construction Fund receives the remaining 30% to support the Water and Environment Fund, the Ethanol Fuel Fund and the State Highway Fund.

The South Dakota Lottery says the $2 million ticket was sold in August (Aug. 23, 2025) at Gas N More in Mobridge. The deadline to claim the prize is Feb. 19, 2026.
