Every Wednesday morning for about the past five years people coming into Pierre’s T.F. Riggs High School are greeted by students.
Gov to Gov Advisor Terri Johnson says they call it “Welcome Wednesday.”
Junior Brandon Brave says he likes seeing the student greeters when he gets to school.
Senior Gov to Gov member Kathryn Larson hopes the Welcome Wednesday positivity at the Riggs High School front doors extends throughout the hallways and classrooms.
Johnson says February is Random Acts of Kindness Month and she’s given the Gov to Gov students a challenge.
Suggestions for things you can do to spread kindness at home, at school or at work include:
- Hold the door open for someone.
- Text or message someone who helped you just to say thanks.
- Put yourself first for an entire day.
- Donate blood.
- Let someone merge into traffic or go ahead of you in line.
