The Seattle Seahawks capped off the 2025 season with a dominant defensive performance in Super Bowl 60 to win their second crown this century. It was their defense that essentially earned them their first Super Bowl victory over the Broncos in 2014, and their defense again shined last night in their 29-13 win over the Patriots.
The game started slow with both offenses struggling to find any sort of rhythm. That is, of course, unless you’re Kenneth Walker who made an immediate impact with a handful of big-chunk runs that got Seattle into field goal range. Seattle would use those runs and some crafty Sam Darnold footwork to jump out to a 9-0 first half lead.
It was not that New England couldn’t get bodies around Darnold, it was that he was too evasive to be brought down which extended plays and ultimately extended drives.
The Patriots offense, on the other hand, simply could not keep Drake Maye up right. Seahawks edge rushers were blowing by Patriots left tackle Will Campbell to the tune of six sacks, and a pick-six as well.
The third quarter would see Seahawks kicker Jason Myers knock through his fourth field goal of the game making it 12-0, and in the fourth quarter, the offenses finally started to open up.
Both teams combined for 12 total points through the first three quarters, but combined for 30 points in the fourth as the Patriots made their last gasp and Kenneth Walker continued his dominance. Regardless of the Patriots finding the end zone twice in the fourth quarter, the game belonged to Seattle who put an exclamation point on the win with a Uchenna Nwosu interception that was returned for a touchdown. Seattle would wait out the clock as New England scored in garbage time, and as the clocks hit zeros, the celebration was on.
With the five field goals made by Myers, he sets a Super Bowl record for most made by a kicker. Kenneth Walker was rightfully awarded the NFL MVP honors after 135 yards on the ground on 27 carries, and 2 catches for 35 yards as well. Walker did not score in the game, but his impact was more than enough to lift Seattle to the top of the football mountain.
