The All-ESD Conference boys wrestling team was announced Tuesday in the week leading up to the State Individual Tournament, and the Pierre Governors were well represented. Top-ranked 144-pounder Alex Oedekoven leads the list of Governors. The senior is 44-1 on the season and the top seed in his State Tournament bracket. Other Govs to be voted to the team include Gable Uhrig (35-8 at 120 pounds), Jordan Schafer (36-8 at 150), and Porter Hunsley (42-7 at 165). All four are qualified for the State Tournament and hope to lead their team to a strong showing after finishing 11th in the standings a year ago. Six Watertown wrestlers and five from Brandon Valley lead the All-ESD team, while Aberdeen Central, like Pierre, has four representatives. All four of those teams will hope to challenge Sturgis at the State Meet, as the Scoopers will be vying for their third straight team title. Harrisburg and Mitchell have three All-Conference wrestlers each, and Tea Area and Yankton both have two. See the full All-ESD listing below.
