Two people from Pierre were injured in a single-vehicle crash in Pierre early Saturday morning (March 7, 2026, at 12:55am).
According to the South Dakota Highway Patrol, preliminary crash information indicates the driver of a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling eastbound on East Broadway Avenue and lost control of the vehicle while going around a curve. The vehicle went onto the sidewalk, back onto the road, then onto another sidewalk and collided with a retaining wall.
The 54 year old male driver and a 54 year old female passenger were taken to the hospital in Pierre with serious, non-life-threatening injuries. The driver was not wearing his seat belt. The passenger was wearing her seat belt.
Road conditions at the time of the crash included snow-covered and slippery. Speed and use of alcohol are under investigation.
The names of the persons involved have not been released.
