Dakota Corp has notified recipients of its 2026 Dakota Corp Scholarship, awarding generous scholarships to nearly 40 outstanding students from 26 different South Dakota high schools. Together, these students represent the next generation of leaders, professionals, and problem-solvers committed to building their futures in South Dakota.
The Dakota Corp Scholarship program is designed to do more than support students financially; it strategically strengthens South Dakota’s workforce by encouraging talented students to pursue education and careers in areas critical to the state’s long-term success. Through a competitive selection process, recipients are awarded scholarships covering tuition and fees, as approved by the Dakota Corps Board.
“These recipients have not only demonstrated exceptional academic ability and leadership, but also a genuine desire to build their careers right here at home,” said Regent and Committee Chair Pam Roberts. “The Dakota Corp Scholarship is designed to keep talented young people in South Dakota, strengthening our workforce and ensuring our communities continue to thrive.”
A key feature is its service-based commitment: each recipient signs an agreement to work in a high-need occupation in South Dakota after graduation. The service period equals the scholarship years plus one. For example, a four-year scholarship requires five years of service, and a three-year scholarship requires four years.
By aligning educational opportunities with workforce demand, the Dakota Corp Scholarship program helps ensure South Dakota retains bright, motivated graduates in fields that matter most, from healthcare and education to technical and other in-demand professions. A current list of qualifying critical need occupations is maintained by the South Dakota Board of Regents.
Through this program, Dakota Corp continues to make a powerful investment in South Dakota, supporting students, strengthening communities, and helping meet the state’s most pressing workforce needs. The Dakota Corps Scholarship is funded by private businesses, nonprofit corporations, and the South Dakota Governor’s Office. To learn more about the program, visit sdbor.edu/scholarships.
