A 58 year old man from Huron employed at the Huron Middle School has been indicted on 20 charges of Child Pornography.
The criminal counts against Richard Hotchkiss arose following an investigation by the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force and the Huron Police Department. Hotchkiss was indicted last week (March 6, 2026) on 15 counts of Possession of Child Pornography and five counts of Distributing Child Pornography.
The Attorney General’s Office said the arrest came about after ICAC officials investigated a Cybertip. The situation remains under investigation.
Hotchkiss is being held on a $10,000 cash bond, and his next court appearance is scheduled for March 24. He is presumed innocent under the U.S. Constitution.
The case is being prosecuted by the Beadle County State’s Attorney’s Office.
