March 13, 2026:
A woman from Mission died and three people were seriously injured Sunday (March 8, 2026, at 3:51pm) in a single-vehicle crash 13 miles southeast of White River.
Preliminary crash information from the South Dakota Highway Patrol indicates that a 2009 Chevrolet Colorado was traveling eastbound on Ring Thunder Road. The driver failed to negotiate a curve and went into a yaw. The vehicle rolled, coming to rest in the north ditch. All four occupants were ejected.
Three occupants, 18 year old Francis Quick Bear, 18 year old Revvin Quick Bear, and a 17 year-old female, sustained serious, non-life-threatening injuries. The fourth occupant, 18 year old Lailabella Kathleen Whirlwind Soldier-Hunger, was pronounced deceased at the scene. None of them were wearing a seat belt. The identity of the driver is under investigation.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
