City finance officers for Platte and Wagner have been re-elected as the chair and vice-chair for the District 4 area of the South Dakota Municipal League (March 18, 2026).
Platte Finance Officer Shauna Meyerink was re-elected Chair and Wagner City Administrator and Finance Officer Debbra Houseman was re-elected Vice Chair. As the district chair, Meyerink will act as a contact for and represent their district as a member of the SDML Board of Directors.
Municipal League Executive Director Sara Rankin spoke to the approximately 60 municipal officials in attendance about the outcome of the 2026 Legislative Session and the effect new laws will have on South Dakota municipalities. Topics of discussion included aging infrastructure, nuisance properties and costs of insurance coverage.
In other business, those attending voted to hold the 2027 District 4 Meeting in Platte.
