There had already been an upset earlier in the day when #8 Lyman defeated the #1 seed in Viborg-Hurley. So, Sully Buttes went in with a confidence they could pull it off in the 7 vs. 2 game as well. The Flyers came out hot and looked like they might extinguish any thoughts of an upset, taking a 24-11 lead into the end of the first quarter.
The Chargers slowly chipped away at the deficit on the back of 28 points from Wesley Wittler, who has made a comfortable routine of scoring 25+. Bucket after bucket the Chargers got the deficit down and towards the end of the third quarter made a run to make it a one-possession game.
With a little over four minutes left, the Chargers were within three until the Flyers defense was able to close it out and go onto win 63-55. Sully Buttes will move to the consolation bracket where they will face off with Wall on Friday afternoon at 12:45, coverage will begin on KPLO and DRGnews.com/kplo/ around 12:25 PM CT.
The Flyers will face off with Wall tomorrow night at 6:45 PM CT.
