City officials from Pierre and Wessington Springs have been re-elected (March 19, 2026) chair and vice-chair for District 5 of the South Dakota Municipal League.
Kristi Honeywell, Pierre City Administrator, will serve another year as chair and Linda Willman, Wessington Springs Finance Officer, will serve another year as vice chair. As the chair, Honeywell will represent District 5 on the SDML Board of Directors.
Additionally, Municipal League Executive Director Sara Rankin spoke about the outcome of the 2026 Legislative Session and the effect new laws will have on South Dakota municipalities. Topics of discussion included workforce recruitment and rising construction costs.
In other business, those attending voted to hold the 2027 District 5 Meeting in Wessington Springs.
