Decorative banners have been put up on the light posts on the Lt. Commander John C. Waldron Memorial Bridge between Fort Pierre and Pierre.
Fort Pierre Mayor Gloria Hanson says the banners are one of a handful of partnerships the two towns made during the design stages of the new bridge.
Pierre Mayor Steve Harding says before putting up the current banners, they did a test….and it’s a good thing they did.
Pierre and Fort Pierre have partnered on a number of features on the Missouri River Bridge including upgraded overhead lighting, bump-outs along the pedestrian walking path and improved railings. The Waldron Memorial Bridge is a vital link between the two communities, supporting daily travel for work, school, and services, while also serving as a key route for visitors accessing recreation, businesses and regional destinations.
