The Twins start to the 2026 season has been a bit rocky, finishing up their roadtrip 2-4 before coming home for their home opener today against Tampa Bay. However, they do come into today’s game with some momentum after notching a win with some late power against Kansas City Thursday afternoon.
One issue for Minnesota has been an inability to produce against opposing starting pitching, scoring a majority of their runs once they get to opponents bullpens. That was apparent again yesterday as they tried to salvage the Royals series after dropping the first two. The Twins were only able to surmount one run in their first seven innings leading 1-0 going into the eighth.
The Twins, determined to end the roadtrip on a high-note woke up the bats and started making trips around the bases. After a sacrifice fly from Byron Buxton in the eighth, the Twins added unneeded insurance with homers from Matt Walner to start the inning, followed by a deep shot from Kody Clemens then capped off with a homerun from Josh Bell.
The Twins closed out the trip 2-4 on the season after the 5-1 and will look to capitalize on the momentum for their Opening Day game today against the Rays. First pitch is set for 3:10 PM CT and you can listen live on KGFX.
