Dakota Wesleyan University is hosting an informational open house today (March 28, 2022) for the Learn & Earn program available through Capital City Campus in Pierre.
Prospective students and their families are invited to meet with DWU representatives during the drop-in open house from 5-6:30pm at the Capital City Campus (925 E. Sioux Ave.). Refreshments will be served. Those planning to attend are asked to register at www.dwu.edu/pierre_events.
DWU’s Learn & Earn program, offered entirely on site in Pierre, is an affordable and efficient 16-month path to a professional career and associate degree for students, with the added opportunity to complete a bachelor’s degree. The curriculum is designed to prepare students to fill professional roles in the state’s largest city and surrounding areas while simultaneously earning professional certifications. The first-of-its-kind program integrates classroom and online learning with professional work experience. Students enrolled participate in a year-long, part-time, paid internship while completing their professional certificates.
The DWU program is divided into four, four-month modules including professional readiness; business fundamentals; management and marketing; and industry-specific areas. Weekly schedules place students in a combination of two or three days in the classroom and two or three days at their internships, depending on which term they are enrolled. Successful completers will receive their associate degrees and can easily transfer into a related bachelor’s degree program.
Each student is paired with a personalized and professional career coach to assist them throughout the program. The coach is the student’s liaison for whatever advice or service they need to be successful. Coaches assist with classroom learning and play a central role in the evaluation of student internship progress.
Another information night is scheduled for Monday, Apr. 11, 2022, also from 5-6:30pm at the CCC.
Applications are now being accepted for Fall 2022.
