It’s Friday and that means some Feel Good Friday stories…
1. For the fourth year in a row, a guy in Cincinnati is doing an all-beer diet for Lent. He’s got about a week left, and he’s using it to raise money for charity. He says he’s also lost about 25 pounds so far.
2. An 18-year-old Cleveland woman who’s originally from Ukraine just raised over $12,000 for refugees . . . by working out on a stair climber for 24 hours straight.
3. A couple on Vancouver Island near Seattle recently bought an old resort and were planning to turn it into an events center. But they’re shelving those plans for now and using it to house Ukrainian refugees instead. They say it’s big enough for 100 people.
4. Five more WOMEN will appear on U.S. quarters next year: Pilot Bessie Coleman . . . ballerina Maria Tallchief . . . activist Jovita Idár . . . hula teacher Edith Kanaka’ole . . . and former First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt.
5. And a pharmacist at a CVS in North Carolina is in the news after giving a customer a KIDNEY. Her name is Kathleen Kirkland, and it happened by chance. A local pastor mentioned he was on the kidney transplant list. And she immediately offered to donate. He says he used to go to a different pharmacy. But he stopped into her CVS in 2017 and was amazed at how helpful she was . . . little did he know JUST how helpful she’d end up being. After this, he says he’s never switching pharmacies again.
6. A disabled veteran in Florida named Tavaris Washington just got his service dog back after it went missing last month. The dog ended up in a shelter, and someone adopted him a few days later. At first, it sounded like Tavaris might not get him back. But local police helped iron it out, and he’s home now.
