PIERRE – Two runs in the seventh inning Friday gave Pierre Governor Baseball a 5-4 win over Sioux Falls Jefferson at Hyde Stadium in the first game of a doubleheader, but the Cavaliers won 6-1 in the nightcap to leave Pierre at .500 with two regular-season games remaining.
The seventh-inning rally for Pierre (12-12) in the opener started with a one-out error. Lincoln Kienholz and Matthew Hanson both singled to load the bases. An error scored the tying run, then a sacrifice fly by Spencer Easland won the game. Grayson Hunsley hit an RBI single and Kienholz had a sacrifice fly in a three-run third inning.
Kienholz tied the second game at 1-1 with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first inning to scored Jayden Wiebe, who had tripled. Jefferson scored a run in the second, two in the fourth and two in the sixth.
