Researchers concluded housework does not improve fitness or help with weight loss. In a study of women, scientists found brisk walking and other outdoor activities were a better way to keep healthy and slim than cleaning floors and windows. The odds of being overweight were noticeably lower in women who participated in at least 2½ hours of brisk walking a week and were slightly reduced in those who participated in at least one hour of physical exercise a week.
