The High Plains Wildlife Association of Pierre-Fort Pierre will be hosting its 46th annual Kids Fishing Day Saturday (May 21, 2022). The event will run from 9am-noon at Farm Island Recreation Area, on the beach east of the causeway.
This shore fishing event is open to area youth ages 4 to 16 years of age interested in fishing or learning how to fish. Children should bring their own fishing equipment if possible. Live bait will be provided.
No park entrance license will be required due to Open House Weekend in the statewide park system. Also no fishing license is necessary due to free fishing weekend statewide.
Registration will open at 8:30am and attendees are asked to park on the causeway. GF&P will provide a fisheries presentation at 9am. Fishing will run from 9:30-11:30am.
Parents are must register their children and accompanying their child is recommended. Hotdogs, chips, cookies and cold drinks will be served immediately following fishing. Prizes, including two youth model firearms, will be drawn for.
The event is in cooperation with SD Game, Fish & Parks and local businesses. In the event of inclement weather please tune into the local radio stations.
