During public forum at the Tuesday, October 8th, meeting of the Mobridge City Council, Jean Blonigan reminded everyone that October is Domestic Violence Awareness month – there will be a fundraiser for Bridges Against Domestic Violence next Monday, October 14th, at the Pizza Ranch, and on Wednesday, October 16th, a walk against domestic violence in the city park at 5pm. Everyone is welcome to participate. Linda Meyer, representing the Mobridge Rodeo Association, asked the council to consider forgiving the daily rental fee of Scherr Howe Event Center during the 75th anniversary of the Sitting Bull Stampede Rodeo and Mobridge-Pollock All-School Reunion 2020, which will be a 5-day event total.
Council approved the second reading of Ordinance number 976 pertaining service lines and connections. According to City Finance Officer Heather Beck, the city will now be changing curb stops instead of the property owner, making them the property of the city and making it easier for the city to replace broken curb stops.
The second reading of Ordinance 977 to codify Mobridge City Ordinances was also approved.
Council approved the one year lease with Walworth County for office space in the city fire hall for Emergency Manager Amanda Silbernagel, which will go into effect on January 1, 2020.
Revised rental fees and deposits for Scherr Howe were approved. There will now be two separate fee structures – one for non-profit organizations and one for for-profit organizations.
Pay request number 6 for the airport runway project was approved.
Resolution 19-09 for front footage assessment for street repair at 40 cents per foot was approved. This is a yearly assessment.
Council approved a contract with Safe Slide Restoration to repair the slide at the Mobridge pool at a price of $23,350 so the city can get on the company’s schedule.
The health insurance renewal plan was approved with the deductible increase of $6600 and the city’s contribution to HSAs of $1500 per employee.
