The Hughes County Commission has approved an agreement with a developer for a haul road for its proposed wind farm that will be located in western Hyde and eastern Hughes counties.
Hughes County Manager Kevin Hipple says it would be a 71 turbine project.
Now that the haul road agreement has been approved, the county Board of Adjustment will consider a conditional use permit for the portion of the project which would be built in Hughes County.
This week (June 8, 2022), the South Dakota Governor’s Office of Economic Development’s Board of Economic Development approved the North Bend Wind Project, LLC. for a six-month extension in Hughes and Hyde counties through GOED’s Reinvestment Payment Program.
Engie is the developer of the 200 megawatt North Bend Wind Farm project.
