h. Designation of Parliamentary Procedures At-A-Glance, New Edition, as the parliamentary procedure guide to be utilized by the Board.
i. Designation of the official meeting date, place and time. Designate second Monday of the month. (If a holiday falls on the Monday of a regularly scheduled Board meeting, the Board meeting will be on the following Tuesday.) A second monthly meeting should be designated for special meetings. All regular meetings start at 5:30 p.m.
j. Designate the Capital Journal as the official newspaper for legal publications for 2022-2023.
k. The following should be designated as official representatives: Troy Wiebe for Title IX, Americans with Disability Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and Medicaid; Kelly Hansen for Vocational Education (Perkins); Donna Stroup for Indian Education, and Johnson O’Malley; and Troy Wiebe for ESEA Title I, II-A, and any other federal programs and related grants.

o. Closing of Schools. The Superintendent of Schools be authorized to close school when weather, contagion or emergencies warrant such action. In the event the Superintendent is not available when immediate action is required the authorization shall be extended in order to the Business Administrator and Director of Education.
p. Truancy Policy
As per 13-27-14, the Pierre School Board hereby appoints the school principals and assistant principals as truancy officers. When it is deemed necessary, the city and county law enforcement officers will also be requested to assist in the enforcement of the compulsory attendance laws.
q. Title I Assurances
The local education agency recognizes that the services provided must meet the following requirements of Section 1018 (d) (1) (B) of the Title I statute:
1) All children participating in the program are educationally deprived.
2) The program is based on performance objectives similar to Title I related to educational achievement and is evaluated in a manner consistent with those performance objectives.
3) The program provides supplementary services designed to meet the special educational needs of participating children.
4) The LEA keeps such records and affords such access thereto as are necessary to assure the correctness and verification of these requirements.
5) The SEA monitors performance under the program to assure that these requirements are met.
r. Individuals with Disabilities Act, Part B Assurances
The Pierre School District will continue to adhere to policies and procedures consistent with Part B of the Individuals with Disabilities Act.
s. Indian Education Act Parent Committee Recognition
The Pierre Board of Education recognizes the responsibilities and advisory capacity of the Indian Education Act – Subpart I Parent Committee under the provisions of 186A.41 of the Indian Education Act on all matters pertaining to Title IX, the parent committee will meet a minimum of annually to review the progress of the Title IX, Part C program and will inform the Indian parents of such progress. The committee, and/or a representative, will also review the assistant counselor’s periodic written reports.
t. Annual Advance Payments Fund Authorization
The Board shall annually consider authorizing an amount and purpose for the Advanced Payment Fund. The amount will remain at $12,000 for 2022-2023.
