UPDATE: All appointment slots filled in blood drives today and tomorrow in Pierre/Fort Pierre.
Vitalant is holding a blood drive today (Mon.) and tomorrow in Pierre.
Blood donors are needed today between noon and 5:45pm or tomorrow from 8am-1pm at Resurrection Lutheran Church. The online option to make an appointment shows all slots are full, but there have been cancellations. Extra staff is on site to handle walk in donations.
Vitalant senior donor recruiter Abbie Arneson says blood is always needed, but the global COVID-19 pandemic has increased the need exponentially.
Arneson says people will see changes in the donation process implemented to increase safety for donors and workers.
Donors must be at least 16 years old, weigh 110 pounds and be in good health.
If you aren’t able to donate blood today or tomorrow, there’s another blood drive next week, April 16 from 8:30am-3pm at Faith Lutheran Church in Pierre.
To make an appointment for that blood drive, call Cheryl Brull at 605-280-0690 or go to www.vitalant.org. You can save about 20 minutes by completing the Fast Track Health History the day you donate.
