1169 people flew out of the Pierre Regional Airport last month (August 2022).
City commissioner Jamie Huizenga says that puts the facility over the 10,000 enplanement threshold that triggers eligibility for $1-million in federal funding.
Pierre’s current tally for 2022 is 10,329, with four months to go.
Denver Air Connection provides the commercial air service for the Pierre and Watertown regional airports. Watertown has also broken the 10,000 passenger boardings mark for the year. Numbers released yesterday (Sept. 6, 2022) show they had 1284 enplanements in August– 722 to Denver and 562 to Chicago. Watertown’s annual total so far is 10,773.
DAC currently provides 12 flights per week between Pierre and the Denver International Airport, with there being two flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. The company flies non-stop from Watertown to Chicago O’Hare and Denver International Airport.
Denver Air’s federal EAS contract for both airports runs through May 31, 2023.
