Pierre street closure: Poplar Avenue

Poplar Avenue in Pierre between Elizabeth Street and Second Street will close to through traffic today (Sept. 29, 2022) for a street repair.

The project is expected to be complete by Saturday. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes.

The city maintains 80 miles of street, more than 100 miles of water main, and more than 60 miles of sanitary sewer. Each year, city staff assess the streets, in addition to utilities, sidewalks and curbs to prioritize street maintenance and reconstruction projects.
