If you’ve shopped for an airline ticket lately, you’ve noticed prices for air fares have gone up.
Jon Coleman is the Business Development Director and also a pilot for Denver Air Connection, the commercial air carrier serving Pierre and Watertown. He says jet fuel prices are having a big impact on the cost of flying.
He says as a result, airlines have had to adjust their prices.
Coleman says jet fuel prices aren’t the only factor that have led to a price increase.
Denver Air Connection currently provides 12 flights per week between Pierre and the Denver International Airport, with there being two flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. The company also flies non-stop from the Watertown Regional Airport to Chicago O’Hare and to Denver International.
Denver Air Connection’s federal Essential Air Service contract for both airports runs through May 31, 2023.
