Castle Rock, Colo. (AP) — A new source of drinking water is coming to thirsty, fast-growing Colorado — recycled wastewater. The state is expected to soon become the first to regulate direct potable reuse — the process of treating sewage and sending it directly to taps without first being dispersed in a larger water body. In cities where indirect potable reuse has been around for years, water managers say the public is likely ready to accept the new method, but it will still be years before the supply is tapped.
