PRESHO – Tegan Gourneau made sure to have one more game at home.
Lyman’s senior quarterback rushed for three touchdowns, including the go-ahead score in the last minute of the third quarter Thursday as the Raiders rallied to defeat Castlewood 34-16 in the quarterfinal round of the 9A playoffs.
Gourneau rushed for 75 yards with the three scores and also passed for 109 yards and a score for Lyman (9-1), and his third rushing score put Lyman up 18-16 with 54 seconds left in the third quarter.
Before the quarter ended, Castlewood (7-3) lost a fumble at their own five and Tance Wagner scored on the first play of the fourth quarter from five yards out. Gourneau extended the Lyman lead to 32-16 with a six-yard touchdown toss to Brayden Oldenkamp with 3:05 left. The Raiders then scored a safety with 1:35 left when Castlewood was called for holding while quarterback Lane Tvedt was in the end zone.
Lyman will host Gregory in Presho in the semifinal round on Friday, November 4.
