Let’s enjoy some wonderful stories as week wrap up another week.
1. A miracle baby in England recently went home after 112 days in the hospital. His mom had an emergency C-section at 26 weeks, and he was only 1 pound 10 ounces at birth. Doctors had to resuscitate him for 17 minutes before he started breathing. But he’s now up around eight pounds and doing a lot better.
2. Last year, a high school volleyball star in Colorado named Zoe Rollins was partially paralyzed in a car crash. She’s in a wheelchair and still has a long way to go in her recovery. But she’s a fighter, and has now regained feeling down to her knees. Last month, she won Homecoming Queen. And with some help from a parent, she managed to stand up at a volleyball game and serve a ball over the net. The place went nuts and all her teammates rushed the court. (Here’s a video.)
3. Back in the late ’90s, two kids in Virginia named Kate McNeil and Paul Damon were best friends. She secretly had a huge crush on him, and tried to kiss him once, but he turned his head. Then they lost touch when he joined the Navy. But 24 years after they met, they recently reconnected on Facebook, and now they’re ENGAGED. They’re getting married in July. (Here’s a photo.)
4. A California man lost consciousness while scuba diving near Catalina Island late last month . . . and got saved by mermaids. A bunch of women were taking an advanced mermaid swimming class nearby, and showed up in their mermaid tails. Their instructor was the first to get there . . . did mouth-to-mouth while he was still in the water . . . and saved the guy’s life.
5. A guy named Brendon Birt was driving in Iowa in the middle of the night last month when he took a wrong turn . . . came across a house on FIRE . . . and ended up saving three kids, along with their 22-year-old brother. They were sleeping and had no idea until he screamed and banged on windows to wake them up. Their mom was out of town dealing with a family emergency, but got to meet him and give him a huge hug when she got back.
6. An Australian woman who was adopted 60 years ago figured out who her biological dad was . . . found out she had three siblings in the U.K. . . . and they all just flew to Thailand to meet up for the first time. Her name is Suzy Frazer. There’s a video of them hugging it out at the airport, and her face is pure joy. But the craziest part is they had another sister, who sadly passed away years ago at age 19. And that sister’s name was also Suzy.
7. A wildlife photographer in Australia got a shot of a southern right whale swimming alongside a baby humpback. The two species don’t usually cross paths or interact, but experts think the baby must have been orphaned, and the adult whale adopted it. If so, it might be the first time it’s ever been documented. (Here’s a photo.)
8. A 16-year-old in England decided he was using his PlayStation too much during the lockdowns two years ago. So he started writing a book and published it this month. It’s a fantasy novel available on Amazon called “Noble: Betrayed“.
