BROOKINGS – South Dakota State cornerback Malik Lofton has been arrested. The Brookings County State’s Attorney’s Office said that Lofton was arrested on a warrant for two counts of second-degree petty theft.
Lofton, a senior from Minneapolis, has 18 tackles and an interception this season for the Jackrabbits, who will host Holy Cross Saturday in an FCS quarterfinal game at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium. Lofton has been on the Missouri Valley Football Conference All-Academic team three times and won the Commissioner’s Academic Excellence Award for the 2020 season.
A hearing is scheduled for January 23. SDSU Head Coach John Stigelmeier said Wednesday that disciplinary action for Lofton is pending.
