The Hughes County Commission has approved contributing to county employees’ Health Savings Account plans, as well as giving staff a 3% raise.
Chair Connie Hohn says their plan is modeled after the HSA requirements state government offers employees.
Commissioner Rob Fines, who retired as the Hughes and Stanley County Emergency Management Director last year (2022), thinks the options offered will be appreciated.
Employees would get $600, then be eligible for up to $500 more if they complete designated health requirements.
As for raises, Hohn says commissioners don’t get one, but county staff does.
Hughes County Commissioners are each paid an annual salary of $16,917.
