Bertha “Babe” (Hattum) Magnusson was born on June 8th, 1949 to Edward and Faye (Abdullah) Hattum. The family farmed in Canada before moving to the United States where her father worked on the Oahe Dam. She was raised in Ft. Pierre where she attended school. Babe worked at the Chuckwagon Café in Ft. Pierre for many years.

Babe married the love of her life George Magnusson on December 31, 1990 in Brookings, South Dakota. He was taken from her in September of 2000. Babe spent a lot of her free time at the family farm in Harrold. She enjoyed playing cards, cooking, baking and spending time with her family.

Babe is survived by step daughter Wanda (Magnusson) Boyle and her husband Clayton of Pierre; three step sons William and wife Jackie Magnusson of Mountain Home, ID, Shawn Magnusson of Rapid City and Scott (Magnusson) Edmaiston of Chicago, IL; one brother in law Dale Magnusson of Loveland, CO; Five sister in laws Naomi Douglas of Rapid City, Irma Foland of Hillsboro, IL, Sharon Lebeda of Loveland, CO, Marilyn McKibben of Rapid City and Ruth Ballard of Phoenix, AZ; seven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Nephew Todd Hattum of Harrold; great nieces and great-nephews Mariah Hattum, Taylor and husband Wyatt Green, Casey Hattum, Shelby Hattum, Amy Hattum and her boyfriend Austin Friese and Chad Hattum; great great nieces Amira, Ashlyn, Aubrey and Laramie; and many more aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband George, brother Robert Hattum, sister in law Beverly (McQuay) Hattum, nephew Mark Hattum, great-nephew Troy Hattum, and her parents Ed and Faye.
