At 7:45 a.m. (CT), the Senate Judiciary Committee will hear a quartet of bills from Attorney General Marty Jackley.
House Bill 46 would establish the crime of petition circulation perjury, which would be a Class 2 misdemeanor. Class 2 misdemeanors have a penalty of up to 30 days imprisonment and up to $500 in fines.
House Bill 48 would increase the penalty for attempted first-degree murder of a law enforcement officer. The offense would be a Class 1 felony. The penalty for a Class 1 felony is up to 50 years imprisonment and $50,000 in fines.
At 8 a.m. (CT), the Senate Education Committee takes up the always complicated state aid to education formulas for K through 12 education.
At 2 p.m. (CT), the Senate considers a bill to make synthetic analog drugs illegal. These are drugs that are chemically similar to illegal drugs. They are also scheduled to consider a bill tightening medical requirements to obtain medical cannabis.
Also, at 2 p.m., the House is scheduled to consider a bill to allocate 150 million dollars for housing infrastructure grants and loans. Supporters say House Bill 41 will assist the state’s housing and worker shortage.
