Every Super Bowl Sunday, Americans hammer down chicken wings. Last year, the National Chicken Council estimated that 1.4 billion wings were consumed while watching the big game. Although the connection between wings and football seems natural now, it was not always the case. The first sports bar opened in 1979, with many more following soon after. These establishments needed a snack that was substantial and sharable, and wings fit the bill perfectly. They were already popular in Buffalo, but bar owners began to toss them in a spicy sauce to encourage customers to drink more beer. From there, the dish migrated to living rooms and has become an integral part of the Super Bowl experience.
We love our wings for the Big Game!
