(South Dakota Broadcasters Association)– State legislators survived both “crossover day” and blizzard conditions as they enter Legislative Day 28 today (Feb. 23, 2023).
At 8 a.m. (CT), the Joint Appropriations Committee will have hearings on nine funding bills and could take action on four others.
At 10 a.m., the Senate Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee will hear a bill to require would require foreign owners of agricultural land to report their interests in the land. (HB 1189).
They are also set to hear a bill to revise some laws regulating industrial hemp. (HB 1209)
The Senate and House go into session at 2 p.m.
The Senate is scheduled to vote on a bill that would move the date of a primary runoff election for statewide candidates from ten weeks after the primary to eight weeks.
The House has four appropriation bills to debate concerning various state and university facilities.
Ten Legislative Days are remaining in the session.
