APRIL 1, 2023, 9AM UPDATE:
The City of Pierre has lifted it’s no travel advisory. However, motorists are reminded to take it slow. Driving conditions remain slippery.
City plows have cleared the emergency snow routes. They are moving into residential areas and clearing windrows from the business district.
The Pierre Regional Airport is open.
MARCH 31, 2023, 630PM UPDATE:
As storm conditions continue to worsen, no travel is advised within the City of Pierre.
Plowing operations continued until approximately 6:30pm and will resume at 2am on Saturday. Plows will remain on call throughout the evening for emergency response needs.
The plowing priority remains keeping emergency snow routes passable. Plows will move to residential streets as conditions allow.
The Pierre Regional Airport remains closed.
MARCH 31, 2023:
Plowing operations are underway in Pierre. Emergency snow routes will be cleared first, followed by residential streets. For additional information about snow operations in Pierre or to see the Emergency Snow Route map, click here.
In Fort Pierre, a snow alert is in effect, so vehicles must be moved off of emergency snow routes. Moving vehicles off of all streets would also be helpful so snow can be moved from curb to curb. Fort Pierre will start plowing snow routes at 2pm and the entire town 7pm.
