At the beginning of Tuesday’s (April 18th) Walworth County Commission meeting, Commission Chairman Jim Houck addressed the discussion on the proposed solar energy farm ordinances that occurred at the last meeting. Houck said there will be no more discussion this year on the solar farm ordinances.
Highway Department
The commission approved a motion to extend weight limit restrictions at the discretion of the Highway Superintendent.
A motion was passed to advertise for a chip sealing project.
Highway Superintendent Gary Byre talked about activating a campaign to increase highway department staff numbers in the form of seasonal, part-time, day labor, and specialized trade. All factors will be considered.
Emergency Management
A public hearing was held and approval given for a supplement to the Emergency Management budget. The amount of $4854.55 that was paid to Clark Engineering for the H & H study will go back into the budget to be used for the radio project.
Also at Tuesday’s meeting, Justin Loesch was appointed to the Draft Board in place of Commissioner Duane Mohr.
Commission Chairman Houck acknowledged Deb Kahl and Brenda DeToy for all the work they have done in the Auditor’s office over the past year.
Kahl had positive comments regarding new County Auditor Charity Pepin.
The next regular meeting of the Walworth County Commission will be May 2nd.
