SEPTEMBER 27, 2023:
South Dakota Farm Bureau (SDFB) and the South Dakota Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources (DANR) celebrated over 40 farms and ranches that have been in the same family for 100 years or more recently at the 2023 South Dakota State Fair.
SDFB President Scott VanderWal joined Lt. Governor Larry Rhoden and Sec. of Agriculture and Natural Resources Hunter Roberts to recognize farms and ranches that have been in the same family for 100, 125 and 150 years. August 1, 2023, is the deadline to submit applications to honor farms or ranches at the Century Farm celebration at the 2023 South Dakota State Fair in Huron.
South Dakota Farm Bureau (SDFB) and the South Dakota Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources (DANR) are once again partnering to recognize South Dakota farms and ranches that have been in the same family for 100, 125 and 150 years.

JUNE 6, 2023:
The South Dakota Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources (DANR) and the South Dakota Farm Bureau (SDFB) will once again recognize longstanding South Dakota family farms and ranches through the Century Farm and Ranch program.
To qualify for the program, the applicant(s) must have retained continuous ownership of at least 80 acres of original farmland for 100 years or more. If the family ownership has reached 125 or 150 years, families may apply for recognition as a Quasquicentennial or a Sesquicentennial farm or ranch. Documentation of the original date of purchase must be included with the application.

The application deadline is Tuesday, August 1, 2023.
The South Dakota Farm and Ranch recognition program honors South Dakota families who have owned their farm or ranch for 100, 125 or 150 years. Century farms and ranches are celebrated annually at the South Dakota State Fair in Huron. This year’s recognition event is being held on Thursday, Aug. 31 at 10 a.m. on the South Dakota Farm Bureau Dakotaland Stage.
The 2023 South Dakota State Fair runs Thursday, Aug. 31 through Monday, Sept. 4. Channel Seeds preview night will be Wednesday, Aug. 30.
