SIOUX FALLS – For the first time, Pierre Governor Softball has a winning streak.
Pierre defeated Dakota Valley 4-3 and Rapid City Central 11-5 Friday at Sherman Park for the Governors’ second and third consecutive wins. Pierre improves to 4-6.

Ellie Broers hit a line-drive single to win the game for the Governors in the bottom of the seventh. Jenna Bucholz started the rally with a walk, then was bunted to second by Hannah Lemieux. Khalan Smart then had an infield single to advance Bucholz to third before Broers’ winning hit.
Noel Kist was the winning pitcher. Kara Weiss had an RBI double and RBI single. Bucholz also had an RBI triple.
Pierre 11, Rapid City Central 5
The Governors led 3-2 before breaking the game open with seven runs in the third inning. Weiss had a two-run single and Kist hit a two-run double in that big inning. Broers had an RBI single. Central committed seven errors, some of which directly led to Pierre runs.
Erin Leiferman was Pierre’s winning pitcher.
