Post 8 Throws No Hitter in Double Header Split with Mitchell

PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Post 8 American Legion baseball team split a doubleheader Monday night to Mitchell. Pierre won the opener 1-0 before Mitchell came back in the nightcap to record a 5-4 victory at Hyde Stadium. Three Pierre pitchers combined on a No Hitter in the opening 1-0 win. Peyton Zabel started and went 5 innings striking out 11. Pierre scored the lone run in the game in the 6th inning. Cade Hinkle’s RBI single provided the only run Pierre would need. Austin Hoss had two of Post 8’s 5 hits in the game. In the nightcap, Alex Badger went the distance but took the loss as he allowed 5 hits while striking out 5. Mitchell scored the winning run in the 7th inning. Sam Micheals had 3 hits for Mitchell. Pierre had a 10 hit attack in the game two setback. With the split, Post 8’s record remained one game below the .500 mark at 9-10 on the season. Pierre entartains Huron tonight at Hyde Stadium.
