PIERRE, S.D. – The Western Nebraska Pioneers held off the Pierre Trappers 5-3 Monday night in Gehring, Nebraska in Expedition League play. Zane Phelps had a pair of doubles and Landon Badger picked up his 6th RBI of the season to lead the Trappers offensivly. Pierre had just 7 hits in the game while the Pioneers were banging out 13 hits including 4 for extra bases. Tyler McDonald took the loss going 6 innings allowing 4 runs on 11 hits. Two Pierre relievers allowed just 2 hits and one run over the next 3 innings. The loss ended a Trappers win streak and drops their record to 9-12 on the season. Pierre and Western Nebraska play again in the Nebraska Panhandle tonight.
