CHAMBERLAIN, S.D. —Josh Engquist’s fired a complete-game that vaulted Plankinton past Miller 3-1 on Thursday in the District 3B championship in Chamberlain. Engquist struck out 11 batters and allowed an earned run on five hits and four walks. Kyle Bruinsma’s two hits led Plankinton (13-4), helping the Bankers outhit Miller 8-5. Cody Cotton took the loss for the Outlaws, allowing three runs, one earned, over eight hits over an eight-innings while striking out 8 along the way. Miller fell to 8 and 10 on the season. Plankinton and Miller both advance to the state Class B amateur baseball state tournament that begins next week in Sioux Falls.
