PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Lady Governor volleyball team has been practicing for a week preparing for their season that begins a week from tonight in Rapid City against Rapid City Stevens. Chris Swiden begins his 5th year as head coach of the Lady Govs and he has a team this year that has the capability of being a top 5 team.*
Coach Swiden is most pleased by what he has seen from his senior leadership so far in the pre season. Coach Swiden says that Mitchell and Watertown are the teams to beat in the ESD and the field in Class AA seems to be wide open this year with Rapid City Stevens leading the way. *
The interest of volleyball is high in Pierre this year as Coach Swiden says that over 50 girls freshman through senior are out for volleyball this season. The Lady Govs will host their annual Sports Drink Scrimmage on Tuesday evening at Riggs High Gym.
