PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Governor football team continues preparations for it’s season opening football game a week from tomorrow (Friday) when they host Harrisburg at Phil Trautner Stadium at Hollister Field. The defending state Class 11AA champions have put in 3 days of practice with pads heading into Thursday. 3rd year head coach Steve Steele says the Governors are looking to find a replacement for graduated quarterback Peyton Zabel but he is encouraged with what he has seen so far.*
Coach Steele also feels the road to the Dakotadome for the Class 11AA division is as wide open as it has been in recent years.*
The Governors also have two new members on the coaching staff that coach Steele says are will play an important part in the Governors successes this season.*
The Harrisburg and Pierre matchup is a rematch of the State Championship game a year ago that Pierre won. Coverage of the game will be heard on the Dakota Radio Group on your Official Home for Governor Sports, RIVER 927-FM beginning at 6:25 pm.
