PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Junior Shooters competed recently in State 4H Tournament PJS represented Hughes County at the state 4H shooting sports match in Mitchell on Sept. 8-9. Shooting events included; trap, sporting clays, skeet and muzzle loader. Competing for Hughes County were; Jayce Beestrom, Jessica Hays, Justin Merriman, Wyatt Rose and Noah Smith. Wyatt Rose won the trap competition and placed 4th in skeet. Justin Merriaman placed 3rd in the muzzle loader competition. As a result of their performance, Wyatt and Justin are eligible to be on the team representing South Dakota at the 2019 national 4H tournament. Jayce was selected to be an alternate.
