The Walworth County Commission, at their meeting on Tuesday (August 22nd), passed a motion on a solar farm ordinance for a setback of 1500 feet from the front yard of a occupied dwelling. Commission Chairman Jim Houck said now a minimum of three public hearings can be held – one during the zoning portion of a meeting, and two during regular commission meetings. A date for one of those public hearings will be set at the next meeting.
The commission also approved a 60-day temporary permit for the cheese plant in Hoven to expand the amount of land available to dispose of dairy solid waste.
Walworth County Emergency Manager Jeff Jensen visited with the commissioners regarding electric vehicle battery fires and preparing for the future disposal of those batteries.
