PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Athletic Coaches Association (PACA) has named it’s Avera Riggs High School Athletes of the Week for the week ending October 20th. Tucker Behrens of the Governor Cross Country team and the Pierre Lady Governor Dance team earned the honors from PACA. Behrens just ran his final cross country race of his career at the state cross country meet. Head coach Jim Keyes felt that he ran the best race he could have to give him the best chance to place. There were 123 runners in the race and Tucker finished in 30th place in a time of 17:14. The Competitive Dance team comprised of 16 athletes who have never competed in the sport of competitive dance before this year. The Hip Hop team place 2nd at the ESD tournament with a score of 241.5 out of 300 and increased their score to a 244 at the State Championship on October 20th. In the Pom division they increase their season high score from a 210 to a 232 which is a 22 point increase over the course of their season. The dance team also increased their overall total score from a season high score of 219.33 to a 231.00 at the State Competition. The Competitive Dance team was coached by Amanda Stoesser.
