VERMILLION, S.D. — Alex Arians put together a career day, four Jackrabbits scored in double figures and South Dakota State men’s basketball cruised to an impressive 79-61 victory Sunday afternoon at the Sanford Coyote Sports Center. Arians set career-highs in points (19) and assists (five) while matching his previous best in rebounds (10), notching his second double-double in a Jackrabbit uniform. Skyler Flatten led the Jackrabbits with 20 points and also notched a career-high in rebounds, pulling down nine on the day alongside three assists and three steals. In front of an announced sell-out crowd of 6,014, the Jackrabbits (12-6, 2-1 Summit League) shot 46.9 percent as a team and hit 12 3-pointers to dismantle the Coyote defense. SDSU held South Dakota to 32.8 percent shooting overall and put together a plus-11 showing on the boards. Stanley Umde led USD with 26 points. SDSU led by as many as 25 in the contest en route to their fourth-straight victory over rival South Dakota.
VERMILLION, S.D. – Macy Miller become the first South Dakota State women’s basketball player to score 2,000 career points, but it wasn’t enough as the Jackrabbits lost 105-98 in double overtime to South Dakota in a Summit League game Sunday afternoon in front of 6,004 fans at the Sanford Coyote Sports Center. Miller tied a career high with a game-high 31 points on 11-of-17 shooting. She also dished five assists and had two steals. Tagyn Larson scored a career-high 19 points on 7-of-14 shooting and had a personal-best five blocks. Myah Selland had 19 points and five assists while Madison Guebert added 15 points. USD was led by Ciara Duffy with 28 points. Hannah Sjerven added 23 points and Allison Arens chipped in 20 points. The Jacks fall to 10-6 overall and 2-1 in league play, while the Coyotes are 14-3, 2-1.
