PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Governors scored the first 18 points of the game and wet on to record a 72-37 win over Spearfish to up their record o 2-0 on the season Saturday in Pierre. The Govs led 39-19 at halftime a they shot 53 percent (19-36) fro the field and 45 percent (9-20) from 3 point range. Grey Zabel led 4 Governor double figure scorers with 17 points. Paul Adam added 14 including 4 3-pointers. Jack Mahe added 14 and Garret Stout chipped in with 12. The Governors also had a 31-16 rebounding advantage. Kevin Kolb scored 9 to lead Spearfish which fell to 0 and 4 on the season. The Governors return to the court on Thursday when they host Brookings.

SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Pierre Lady Governor basketball team dropped to 0-2 on the season as they lost 80-70 in double overtime at Spearfish on Saturday. Pierre trailed most of the game but an Emily Mikkelsen shot at the buzzer tied the game a 59 at the end of regulation. Hannah Lingle’s free throw in the closing seconds of the first overtime tied the game at 66 after OT. Spearfish however outscored Pierre 14-4 in the second overtime for the final. The Lady Govs are on the road when they travel to Brookings on Thursday.
