Governor Tennis Splits Season Opening Duals

PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Governor tennis team opened the season with a split of duals against Mitchell and Rapid City Central at the Griffin Park Courts. The Governors opened on the short end of a 6-3 score against Mitchell but bounced back and downed Rapid City Central 9-0. Jace Wernsman won his two matches in singles play at the number 1 spot and Grant Judson won both of his number 5 singles matches on the day as did Luke Leingang at number 6 singles. The number 2 doubles team of Matt Hansen and Grant Judson also won both of their matches. The Governors return to the court on Saturday when they travel to Huron for a quadrangular with Watertown, Sioux Falls Lincoln and Huron.
